If you’re starting a new company, the best thing you can do is keep your feature set small and focused. Do one thing as best as you possibly can. Your users will beg and beg for more functionality. They will tell you their problems and ask you to fix it. My philosophy is that they’re right if their feature request is right only if it works for 80% of your customers. Until you have a lot of resources, stay focused on your core competency
Worse, even the best of middle managers, with pressure to impress the level above, will often make up things to manage. They’ll create managerial tasks when none are needed. This usually leads to more status meetings, more check-ins, more memos and ultimately more distractions for the people getting the actual work done.

Desktop GUI can easily be made cross-platform. However, knowing the nuances and quirks of each brand of web browser along with the commensurate development of elegant front end code which works seamlessly across all of them — is much harder.
Don’t waster your time on micro optimizing your code or using any ninja technique that is not easy to read or confusing.
